About
A problem shared is a problem halved.
Hi, I’m Emma. If you or your teen are struggling with anxiety, depression, or navigating big emotions—I’m really glad you found your way here.
I’m a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland (LCSW-C #25877) and Washington, DC (LICSW #LC200003753) providing in-person and virtual therapy. I’ve dedicated my career to helping teens and young adults move beyond emotional survival mode. My clients often bring complex struggles and real pain to our sessions. I bring the clinical expertise and deep compassion to make change possible.
I know that reaching out for help takes courage. Whether you're overwhelmed, stuck, or just unsure where to start—therapy can be a space to slow down, breathe, and begin again. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and genuinely supported, so you can move beyond surviving and start building a life that feels truly yours.
Approach
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. But at its core, it’s about helping you feel better and live the life you want. My approach is rooted in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles, combining practical skills with deep compassion. I also utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients overcome past traumas and deeply rooted negative self beliefs.
Above all, I bring kindness, curiosity, and deep respect for your lived experience.

DBT-Informed Therapy draws from the principles and skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, mindfulness, and effective coping in a nonjudgmental environment. While it does not follow the full DBT protocol, this approach integrates many of its evidence-based strategies and adapts them to meet each individual’s needs. DBT-informed therapy emphasizes the balance of acceptance and change, helping clients build insight, resilience, and emotional stability.

EMDR Therapy(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach that helps clients process distressing memories and experiences that may continue to affect them in the present. By engaging the brain’s natural adaptive processing system, EMDR supports the integration of difficult experiences, reduces emotional intensity, and fosters a renewed sense of balance and safety. This structured yet compassionate approach can be especially helpful for healing from trauma, anxiety, and other stress-related concerns.

Individual DBT Skills Training provides a supportive, one-on-one space to learn and apply the full set of skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Clients move through the four DBT modules—Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness—with time for practice, reflection, and real-life integration along the way. Each session is tailored to the client’s goals and pace, helping build confidence, flexibility, and a stronger foundation for emotional well-being and connection. When helpful, family members may also join for skills training sessions.

Beyond the Therapy Room
Clients often describe me as thoughtful, down-to-earth, and (yes) a little funny. I absolutely love working with young people and believe in their insight, strength, and capacity for growth.
When I’m not in session, I’m probably:
Knitting or experimenting with a new craft
Wandering between my favorite coffee shops and bakeries
Spending time with family and friends
Walking and running around Rock Creek Park and the Capital Crescent Trail
Watching and cheering along all things women’s sports
I'm a proud queer woman, and I’m committed to creating a welcoming space for all parts of your identity.
