About
A problem shared is a problem halved.
Hi, I’m Emma. If you or your child are struggling with anxiety, depression, or disordered eating—I’m really glad you found your way here.
I’m a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland (LCSW-C #25877) and Washington, DC (LICSW #LC200003753) providing in-person and virtual therapy. I’ve dedicated my career to helping teens and young adults move beyond emotional survival mode. My clients often bring complex struggles and real pain to our sessions. I bring the clinical expertise and deep compassion to make change possible.
I know that reaching out for help takes courage. Whether you're overwhelmed, stuck, or just unsure where to start—therapy can be a space to slow down, breathe, and begin again. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and genuinely supported, so you can move beyond surviving and start building a life that feels truly yours.
Empowering You
Many of the folks I work with feel emotions deeply and often struggle to show compassion to themselves. At times their emotions become so overwhelming that they turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms like self-harm, or disordered eating. Sometimes they’re also dealing with suicidal thoughts, panic attacks, emotional overload or simply that feeling of “everything is just too much.”
Together, we’ll work to:
Find safety and stability. If you're struggling with self-harm, suicidal thoughts or disordered eating we'll prioritize finding healthier ways to cope and help you manage those urges.
Practice self-kindness (even when it’s hard).
Find steadier ground, one step at a time.
Whether you’re a teen trying to navigate high school pressures, or a young adult trying to figure out who you are and what you want—therapy can help you feel more grounded, more connected, and more like yourself.
My Appoach
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. But at its core, it’s about helping you feel better and live the life you want. My approach is rooted in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles, combining practical skills with deep compassion. Here’s what you can expect:
Warm, non-judgmental support to help you navigate life in the DMV (and all that comes with it).
A thorough, thoughtful assessment to get a full picture of what you’re carrying.
Collaborative treatment planning so you always know where we’re headed—and how we’ll get there.
Skills you can actually use to manage big emotions and move toward what matters.
Therapy “homework” assignments—like reflection prompts or small practices—to help you build on what we explored in session.
Above all, I bring kindness, curiosity, and deep respect for your lived experience. This world is tough enough—therapy doesn’t need to be.
Training and Experience
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University in 2020.
While at Columbia, I completed a year-long DBT intensive under Dr. Andre Ivanoff’s mentorship.
I’ve received additional training in:
DBT for Children
DBT for Eating Disorders
ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) for anxiety and OCD
I’ve worked across the full spectrum of care: inpatient, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient therapy.
I bring over five years of experience delivering evidence-based, comprehensive DBT therapy.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Clients often describe me as thoughtful, down-to-earth, and (yes) a little funny. I absolutely love working with young people and believe in their insight, strength, and capacity for growth.
When I’m not in session, I’m probably:
Knitting or experimenting with a new craft
Wandering between my favorite coffee shops and bakeries
Spending time with family and friends
Walking and running around Rock Creek Park and the Capital Crescent Trail
Watching and cheering along all things women’s sports
I'm a proud queer woman, and I’m committed to creating a welcoming space for all parts of your identity.
You deserve support that feels honest, grounded, and hopeful.
If you're ready to take that first step, I'm here to walk with you.
